THE GYM's Robbinsdale, Minnesota Connection

Our storied history began with a few friends from Robbinsdale High School's Classes of '76-'78.

THE GYM's earliest beginnings can be traced back to Robbinsdale, Minnesota - a small first-ring suburb of Minneapolis. Robbinsdale High School and its Class of '76 started it all. Out of this class came Jim Yungner, founder and original owner of The Gym; Mr. Perfect Curt Hennig, Ravishing Rick Rude, Brady Boone, and Tom Zenk.  From the Class of '77 came John Nord (Nord the Barbarian) and Scott Simpson (Nikita Koloff), followed by Smash of Demolition - Barry Darsow from the Class of '78!

Prior to our generation, Robbinsdale produced Larry The Ax Hennig, Verne and Greg Gagne (and even announcer "Mean" Gene Okerlund).

It was the combination of Robbinsdale and The Gym's close-knit culture and incessant training that made these men into the greatest pro wrestlers in all of history! If it's pro wrestling greatness or raw power & size, it has to be Robbinsdale & The Gym, a forever legacy.
